APRIL 9, 2009 – The CHP has reported a fatal head-on collision on Highway 20 Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened just east of Walker Ridge Road, at about 4 p.m. According to reports, Mica Marie Marks, 19, of Sacramento, lost control of her 2001 Honda Accord for unknown reasons while driving east on Highway 20. The car crossed double yellow lines and collided head-on with a 1995 Chevrolet van driven by Sue Ann McGibben, 65, of Clearlake. McGibben was taken by CAL-Fire to St. Helena Hospital in Clearlake. Marks was pronounced dead at the scene by a Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy approximately an hour and 15 minutes after the accident. The CHP is investigating the Highway 20 car crash.

Another crash just a few months later in June? This needs to get fixed now. How long will people keep getting hurt? You can try to blame it on out of towners but the truth is that people will always be at risk when driving in areas that are unfamiliar. Someone from Lake County could come to downtown Sacramento and get into a wreck on city streets. The point is that signage needs to be more available, speed limits need to be adjusted, curves softened, something, anything needs to be done.
