JULY 1, 2009 – A 19-year-old woman taking her first jet ski ride was injured in a collision with another watercraft, authorities said. Amanda Nevarez of Joshua Tree was riding alongside a relative, who then passed Nevarez before making a sudden U-turn in her path, causing the watercrafts to collide, according to the Stanlislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Details on Nevarez’s injuries were unavailable, but the jet ski she was riding was reported to be demolished. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
