JULY 28, 2009 – A 17-year-old boy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound while playing Russian Roulette, authorities said. The unidentified boy was with two other teens and an adult when the shooting occurred about 12:41 a.m. in the 400 block of NW 1st Avenue, according to Visalia police. Police arrived to find the boy with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Russian Roulette is a deadly game in which participants put one bullet in a revolver and then spin the chamber. The gun is then placed to the participant’s head and the trigger is pulled. The death was the third involving a Visalia teen or young adult while playing Russian Roulette in the past four years, police said.
