Ford Escort Driver Killed Friday in Head-On Crash with Gravel Truck in Sonora

MARCH 26, 2010 – One person died after an accident Friday afternoon in Tuolumne County on Hwy 108/49, the California Highway Patrol reported. According to the CHP, the red Ford Escort was travelling east on Hwy 108/49 at the Montezuma Junction when it drifted into westbound traffic for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a big rig trucking towing gravel. The accident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. The driver of the Ford Escort died; no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fatal March 26, 2010 accident remains under investigation.
