RIVERSIDE COUNTY – A motorcyclist was tragically killed in a collision with a truck Monday night in Palm Springs, reports Kesq.com. Palm Springs police said the tragic October 5, 2012 collision happened at about 4:45 p.m. on Gene Autry Trail and 7 Lakes Road. Police say it appears the truck was traveling eastbound on 7 Lakes Road when it turned onto Gene Autry Trail in front of the motorcyclist. After colliding with the motorcycle, the truck crashed into a home on the other side of the intersection.
The rider, whose identity was not known, died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. No one was in the house at the time of the accident, but emergency crews did have to repair a small gas leak at the home. Police are investigating the cause of the motorcycle accident.
