ALABAMA — After a week long trial, a jury has awarded $15 million to a group of four plaintiffs who were involved in a fatal accident on May 2, 2007, in which a BP gas station sold alcohol to a group of minors. Drew Robertson, 13, was killed in the crash. Prior to the crash, Robertson had ben part of a group that went to the 14th Street BP in Bessemer, Alabama to purchase alcohol. The gas station initially denied ever making the sale to the group of minors.  The four lawsuits, which were consolidated into one, were filed under Alabama’s Dram Shop Act that allows lawsuits to be brought against restaurants or stores that sell alcohol to minors that result in damages, injuries, or deaths.
