If you have been a victim of a horrific truck accident, do not fail to contact your local attorney as soon as possible in order to obtain as much compensation as possible. Causes of Truck Accidents Truck accidents can be caused by a number of reasons, of one of the most common includes driver fatigue. When trucking companies overload truck driver shifts against federal regulations for their profit, the inevitably overworked and tired truck driver can be a potential liability and life-threatening driver. Other causes of truck accidents involve faults of the truck and of the streets. The truck can be improperly loaded or overloaded. Thus, the truck’s cargo can fall off the truck to impede other drivers and cause fatal accidents. Poorly maintained vehicles may also be a cause for a truck accident. Also, the truck driver may have used drugs or alcohol, in which case the truck accident involved DUI or possession and use of illegal drug charges. The highways themselves may have been poorly designed and/or poorly maintained. It is in the responsibility of the city to ensure that the streets are safe for all drivers. Liability Issues Concerning Truck Accidents In car accidents, the driver’s insurance company will cover the damages claimed by the wrongfully injured party. It is rare for another party to be involved in a car accident claim. [...] Read more »
There are over 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States, and in proportion to the hundreds of billions of miles they collectively log each year to the number of truck accidents, it is reasonable to say that most are safe and responsible drivers. However, the NHTSA reports over 3,600 people were killed in large truck accidents, and 80,000 more were injured in collisions involving large trucks. According to the federal agency, approximately 276,000 large trucks weighing over 10,000 pounds were in accidents during 2010. While this may be a small percentage of the total number of trucks on the roads, the number of accidents is still substantial, especially in California where a total of more than 5,000 truck accidents occurred. Why Speeding is an Issue Approximately 21 percent of the truck drivers involved in 2010 fatal traffic accidents had previous speeding violations on their driving record, and 13 percent had been involved in accidents in the past. Although the vast majority of truckers drive safely within the speed limit, sometimes a speeding truck driver can cause a catastrophic accident. Speeding vehicles are more likely to be involved in serious or fatal injury accidents because the potential force of impact increases exponentially as the speed increases incrementally. The danger of speeding is exacerbated when in two-vehicle accidents where one vehicle is significantly smaller and lighter [...] Read more »

Unfortunately, the I-5 is also the site of hundreds of truck accidents each year, causing serious injuries such as: Broken or fractured bones Severed limbs Dislocated joints Blunt force trauma wounds Laceration or puncture wounds Head injury Neck or back injury Fatal injury California Insurance Coverage Under California personal injury law, when one party causes physical or financial harm to another individual, those responsible for causing the damages can also be held liable for the said damages. In traffic accident claims, this means those who caused a car accident are responsible for the medical bills, property damage, and other expenses related to the accident. Because California traffic law requires all drivers to have insurance, anyone on the roadways is should have minimum liability coverage of at least: $15,000 for the death or injury of one person in one accident $30,000 for all parties in one accident [...] Read more »
